Recently, various media reports claimed that Pooja Entertainment, owned by Vashu Bhagnani and his son Jackky Bhagnani, is suffering significant financial losses due to several box office failures. Bollywood Hungama reported that Vashu sold the seven-story office of Pooja Entertainment to settle a debt of Rs 250 crore. The report also mentioned that the proceeds from the sale were being used to pay off debts and that the production house had laid off 80 per cent of its staff.
However, Vashu Bhagnani issued a statement to dispel these rumours, asserting that the building was undergoing redevelopment. He addressed the allegations of non-payment of dues to crew members, stating, "I have been in the business for the past 30 years. If there are people who claim that we owe them money, they should come forward and talk to us. Do they have proper contracts with Pooja Entertainment? Have they filed a case regarding this? There are so many ways to sort this rather than ranting on social media. If there is an issue, we will resolve it. Nobody is running away. Please come to my office, talk to us, give us your documents and give us 60 days to figure things out. I am not going to buckle under any pressure or blackmail. We also work with production companies in the UK. If they owe someone money, then people must reach out to them directly."
Pooja Entertainment is one of the oldest production companies in the industry, having backed successful films like Coolie No. 1, Hero No. 1, BellBottom, Biwi No. 1, F.A.L.T.U., Jawani Jaaneman, and Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, among others. Despite the recent challenges, the production house remains committed to its legacy and future projects.
